HYDROplaning
Jim's Windsurfing is proud to document The McKee Project — our first major innovation story and a genuine piece of windsurfing history in the making.
The Story
Veteran Australian board designer Bruce McKee approached Jim's Windsurfing after being inspired by our videos. Bruce brought prototype boards featuring a unique step-hull hydroplaning concept — a radical new approach to how a windsurfing board lifts and runs across the water.
He asked Jim's Windsurfing to help introduce these boards to the global windsurfing community. We said yes.
This is not simply a product launch. The McKee Project is a living document — following the designer, the history, the concept, prototype development, real-world testing, rider reactions and future improvements. We go out, we test, we come back and we report honestly.
First to Speed
A significant milestone in The McKee Project came when Australian speed sailor Greg Kiskarpati became the first rider to take the concept to speed — taking the Stonk to a respectable 37 knots on his very first attempt in flatwater conditions. A remarkable result that validated the hydroplaning hull concept in real-world performance sailing.

These are limited-run prototype testing models — not a mass-market product. We are currently taking expressions of interest from riders who want to be part of the McKee story.
